Microlearning can be defined, as small learning units, in text or multimedia format, that delivers short chunks of content for learners to consume at their convenience (Andriotis, 2018). Microlearning can be delivered using different methods such as short videos; infographics; micro-podcasts; quick reference guides; short, self-paced online training; games; microblogging; and job aids and apps (American College of Education, 2022).
The workplace training experience entitled “Creating Assessments in Google Forms” is an example of microlearning. It is a short, self-paced training in the form of an interactive slide presentation and is accessible on any device at the learner’s convenience. It is performance-based and has one measurable objective and a micro-assessment. The training experience also incorporates other elements of microlearning such as being able to be completed in 2-5 minutes time and having content in consumable chunks.
